Spain is a country of mountains and plateaus: more than 65% of its territory lies at an altitude of more than 500 m above sea level. The six main mountain ranges rise to a height of more than 3300 m. The highest points of the country are: Pico de Aneto (3404 m) in the Pyrenees and Moulassen (3478 m) in Sierra Nevada in the south of the country on the mainland of Spain. Pico de Tede (3,718 m) is located on the island of Tenerife group of the Canary Islands. Most major Spanish rivers flow into the Atlantic Ocean. This Dueto, Tagus, Guadiana and Miko, as well as the Guadalquivir – the deepest and only navigable river of the country.
